How do you make hair from the root grow out straight?

I had a comb over for about 15 years and now I like my hair straight however the root of my hairs seem to naturally go to the side. How do I make it go grow straight without any sort of direction.

Some people say that you can train your hair and make it go the way you want it to go, maybe your hair is just naturally going the way is supposed to go.

My situation might help you: my son is 6 and after so many years of combing his hair over, it does not fall naturally to any side. I think is because he has 2 cowlicks in the back of his head.

He might get it from me,

I have a cowlick on my left front side of head that makes the hair stick out all the way to the cowlick in the back of my head and looks uneven!!! to me anyway.....

That would take an act of God. Your hair wil not change how it comes out of the roots. you can only effect what you do with it once it is out.
